How Suntide compares
There are good battery optimisers, and there are good monitoring apps. The difference is the part around the optimiser: whether the numbers are checked, whether the writes are verified, and whether you are shown what happens before it happens.
| Suntide | Others | |
|---|---|---|
| What your system earned, every month | A statement against two named baselines: no system, and a dumb nightly charge | A savings number the app works out for itself, or none |
| Your bill, checked | Every bill read and priced against your metered use at your tariff; matched, explained or worth querying | Not done |
| The supplier's meter against ours | An agreement figure on every bill, from real reads only, and the gap named when a circuit is unmetered | Inverter sensors taken as truth |
| Changes to your inverter | Sent, read back until the device agrees, logged with who asked and why; a kill switch you hold | Written and assumed to have taken |
| Before it steers | Weeks in shadow, publishing what it would have done and saved, measured | On or off |
| The plan | Drawn for tomorrow with every block priced and the reasoning in words, on your phone and your lock screen | Either the plan or the reasoning, rarely both, sometimes neither |
| Grid events | Priced before accepting, refill and wear included; a losing event is refused and the arithmetic shown | Accepted as they come |
| Your rates | Synced from your supplier account, or read from a bill with every figure labelled by how sure we are | Typed in, and trusted |
| Would another tariff pay? | Your month replayed on Agile, Tracker and FreePhase at their real prices for your region, once as you ran it and once with the brain planning each day; every figure labelled simulated, with the days it covers | A comparison site's typical profile, which a battery house is not |
| Your car charger | Read, never commanded: myenergi Zappi with your own API key, and Ohme, Pod (Pod Point) and Hypervolt in beta with your own sign-in, never a password to us. The car then shows on your plan and in your day. Another brand? Name it when you sign up. | Left to the charger’s own app, which the battery never hears from |
| Who holds the keys | You keep your tariff choice and your inverter; the brain works with whoever made it, inside the reserve you set | A supplier tariff that takes control of supported inverters, on its terms |
| What it runs on | Your phone and the web. No hub, no home server, whoever made your inverter | Often a home server you maintain, or one manufacturer's cloud |
