What happened
GivEnergy Ltd entered administration in April 2026. The cloud platform and app have kept running, and in 2026 moved to a freemium model: the free tier now covers local-network access only, while remote access, historic data, API access and automatic optimisation sit in a £4.99/month Premium tier.
What still works today
- Your hardware. Inverters and batteries run locally; generation, storage and backup don't depend on any cloud.
- The app and cloud, under the new pricing. Free covers local access on your home network; Premium restores remote monitoring, history and the API.
- Third-party integrations, via the API, explicitly permitted on Premium.
What's at risk
- Warranties. Manufacturer warranties are generally not honoured after administration. Check with your installer and any administrator correspondence.
- Pricing and terms. The current model was introduced by decision, and can change the same way. Owners have already lived through one repricing.
- The platform itself. A cloud platform can be sold, merged or wound down. Nothing suggests that is imminent, but your monitoring shouldn't have to bet on it.
Sensible steps for any owner
- Export or screenshot your historic generation data while you can reach it.
- Confirm with your installer who, if anyone, stands behind your warranty now.
- Decide deliberately whether Premium is worth it for you, and know that local access is the advertised free path.

Create your account and connect it with the API token from your GivEnergy portal. The token needs GivEnergy's Premium plan, which is theirs to charge for and separate from Suntide. The Suntide Link, in development, reads the inverter locally and removes that need.

Has the GivEnergy app stopped working?
No. The cloud platform and app have kept running since the manufacturer’s administration. What changed in 2026 is the pricing: remote access, historic data, API access and automatic optimisation moved into a £4.99/month Premium tier, and the free tier now covers local-network access only.
Is my GivEnergy warranty still valid?
GivEnergy Ltd entered administration in April 2026, and manufacturer warranties are generally not honoured after administration unless another company buys the obligations. Check any correspondence from the administrators, and talk to your installer. Some installers are covering workmanship issues themselves. Your consumer rights against the installer who sold you the system may also still apply.
Will my system stop working if the cloud goes away?
Your inverter and battery keep generating, storing and powering your home without any cloud. That all happens locally. What you would lose is remote monitoring, history, and remote control. That is exactly the dependency Suntide is built to remove: cloud-independent local monitoring via the Suntide Link is in development.
Do I need GivEnergy Premium to use Suntide?
Today, yes: Suntide connects through the GivEnergy API, which sits in their Premium tier and explicitly permits third-party integrations. Suntide detects this during setup and says so plainly. The Suntide Link will provide a local connection that removes that requirement: one subscription, not two.
