For Home Assistant owners
Keep Home Assistant. Add the proof.
You built your own set-up and it works. Suntide is not a replacement for it. It answers a different question: is the tuning paying? It checks your numbers against your meter, checks your bills, and shows what a plan would have saved before you trust it with anything.
Run it in shadow, free for 30 days 30 days free. No card. In beta, with a direct line to the people building it.
Nothing is written to your inverter unless you say so.
What Suntide adds that a dashboard does not
A statement checked against the meter
Every month: what the system earned against a home without one, and against a plain nightly charge. Reconciled against your smart meter, with the gap printed.
Bills checked
Every bill read and priced against your own half hours at your tariff. Matched, explained, or worth querying.
A shadow record
Suntide solves each day over real half-hourly prices, your solar forecast and your measured load. In shadow it changes nothing. It publishes what it would have done, and what that would have saved, next to what happened.
Changes read back
If you do let it change a schedule, each change is sent, read back from the inverter until the device agrees, and logged with the reason. One pause switch stops all of it.
Grid events, priced first
Paid export hours are accepted only when they pay after the cost of refilling and battery wear. A losing event is refused, with the arithmetic.
Nothing to maintain
No add-on to patch after an API change. No rates to type in again. It runs on your phone and the web.
The Suntide Link and Home Assistant
The Link is a small box on your own network that reads your inverter directly, with no manufacturer cloud in between. The Home Assistant integration reads the Link once a second. Solar, house load, battery, grid and state of charge arrive as ordinary sensors. Nothing in that path leaves your house.
With a Suntide account the integration adds more entities: the plan, the day's story, what the battery earned this month, the next grid event, and a switch that is on during a paid export hour, for your automations to use.
Local never depends on cloud. If Suntide is unreachable, or you cancel, the local sensors keep updating. Local access is off by default and needs an access code you can change.
The integration is open source: suntide-link-ha on GitHub. The Link is in development and not yet on sale. Account holders hear first.
Questions
Do I have to give up Home Assistant to use Suntide?
No. Keep it. Suntide runs beside it. The Suntide Link feeds Home Assistant local readings, and your automations stay yours.
Does the local data depend on Suntide’s cloud?
No. Home Assistant reads the Link on your own network. If Suntide is unreachable, or you cancel, the power sensors keep updating. Only the entities that come from your Suntide account go quiet.
Can I run Suntide beside my own battery automation?
Yes. Leave Suntide in shadow. It writes nothing to your inverter. Each morning it publishes what it would have done and what that would have saved, measured against what your own automation did.
Is the integration open source?
Yes. The Home Assistant integration for the Suntide Link is public on GitHub. The Link itself is in development and not yet on sale.
