Suntide for Solis owners

Solis charge times, planned around your tariff

Solis hardware is solid and everywhere. Its app shows what is happening. It does not say whether your set-up is costing you money. Suntide reads your system every five minutes, prices each problem it finds in pounds, and plans your charge times around your tariff. You apply the plan from your phone, and Suntide reads it back from the inverter.

Getting your SolisCloud API key

Suntide connects with the KeyID and KeySecret from your own SolisCloud account, so you stay in control. One quirk to know: Solis enables API access per account, on request: many owners don't have keys yet. It's a support ticket, not a technical task, and this guide works whether or not you ever use Suntide.

1. Ask Solis support to enable API access

   In SolisCloud, open Service → Technical Support (or email your regional Solis support) and send them this:

   Hello,
   
   Please enable API access on my SolisCloud account so I can use a third-party monitoring service.
   
   Account email: [your SolisCloud login email]
   Plant / station name: [your plant name]
   
   I understand the KeyID and KeySecret will appear in my account settings once enabled. Thank you.

2. Wait for the confirmation

   Solis usually enables it within 24–48 hours. When Suntide is set up with your email, it tracks this pending state; you can explore the full product in demo mode meanwhile.

3. Activate and copy your keys

   Once enabled, go to Service → API Management in SolisCloud and press Activate now. A verification code arrives by email. It expires in 60 seconds, so have your inbox open. Your KeyID and KeySecret appear right there. Paste them into Suntide; your live power flow appears within seconds. Credentials are encrypted with a dedicated key and are never shown again by any part of Suntide.

Solis on a time-of-use tariff

A Solis inverter holds a fixed charge schedule. Your prices do not stay fixed. On Octopus Agile they change every half hour and every day. On Flux, Go, Cosy and Intelligent Octopus Go the cheap hours are set, and the question is how much to charge and when to stop. Suntide prices tomorrow half hour by half hour and draws the plan tonight. You apply it with one tap. It sets the charge times and the charge current, reads them back from the inverter, and keeps the inverter's clock right, which Solis schedules depend on.
